What city permit records say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">ORLANDO, Fla. \u2013 Could Trader Joe\u2019s be coming to East Colonial Drive?<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">An application filed with the City of Orlando permit office points to the likelihood.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The application lists a project called \u201cTrader Joe\u2019s\u201d for 3001 E. Colonial Dr. Orlando. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The application includes the following description:<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">\u201cInterior tenant fit out of an existing building into a Trader Joe\u2019s store work includes, but is not limited to new partitions, fixtures millwork, flooring, ceiling, light fixtures, and mechanical, plumbing and electrical work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">A pre-screen review was completed on Sept. 29. Several project reviews are due by Nov. 3. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The application has an expiration date of April 6, 2027.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The address, 3001 E. Colonial Dr., points to an empty storefront in Colonial Marketplace shopping plaza, which is at the corner of Colonial and Maquire Boulevard, next to Orlando Fashion Square mall. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The space used to be a Burlington store. The building was built in 1963, according to Orange County Property Appraiser records.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">News 6 has reached out to Trader Joe\u2019s for comment and are waiting to hear back.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brixmor.com\/leasing\/retail-space\/fl\/orlando\/colonial-marketplace\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.brixmor.com\/leasing\/retail-space\/fl\/orlando\/colonial-marketplace\">The Brixmor Property Group website<\/a> lists the 12,500-square-foot space as \u201coccupied\u201d with a \u201dspecialty grocer.&#8221; The company manages the plaza.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">If Trader Joe\u2019s is building out a store on East Colonial, it would be the sixth in the Metro Orlando area. The specialty grocery store is building out stores in Maitland, Waterford Lakes and Kissimmee.
