{"id":434141,"date":"2026-10-22T00:02:09","date_gmt":"2026-10-22T00:02:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/434141\/"},"modified":"2026-10-22T00:02:09","modified_gmt":"2026-10-22T00:02:09","slug":"miami-flips-blue-chip-linebacker-aston-whiteside-from-aggies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/434141\/","title":{"rendered":"Miami flips blue-chip linebacker Aston Whiteside from Aggies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Miami Hurricanes flipped a blue-chip linebacker from an SEC program on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<p>Four-star 2027 linebacker Aston Whiteside chnaged his commitment from Texas A&amp;M to Miami, announcing his decision on social media.<\/p>\n<p>Whiteside, who is listed at 6 foot 2 and 205 pounds, is ranked as the No. 27 linebacker and No. 347 player in the 2027 class, according to 247Sports\u2019 composite rankings.<\/p>\n<p>Whiteside\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sun-sentinel.com\/2026\/10\/15\/um-recruiting-fsu\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">visited UM for its home game<\/a> against Florida State this past weekend. Prior to the game, he told the South Florida Sun Sentinel he wanted to see a lot of \u201cenergy, physicality and competitiveness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a big rivalry game, so I want to see how the team responds to that atmosphere and competes for four quarters,\u201d Whiteside said.<\/p>\n<p>Although Whiteside, a Burleson, Texas, native, committed to Texas A&amp;M on June 1, he said Miami\u2019s staff kept trying to sway him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMiami has definitely continued to recruit me hard and show me a lot of love,\u201d Whiteside said last week.<\/p>\n<p>Last season, Whiteside had 46 tackles, three tackles for loss and a forced fumble. This year, he has 91 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, four sacks and one forced fumble. He also has a punt return touchdown.<\/p>\n<p>Whiteside, whose father played in the NFL and CFL, has a high GPA, and the Hurricanes like his maturity and intelligence in addition to his athleticism, a UM source said.<\/p>\n<p>Whiteside joins two other blue-chip linebackers in the Hurricanes\u2019 2027 class: A.J.
