TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Leon County Supervisor of Elections Mark Earley says two U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) vehicles were seen at an early voting site in Tallahassee on Monday. <\/p>\n
The longtime supervisor said in a Wednesday statement that the Customs and Border Patrol vehicles were parked at the Northeast Branch Library at around 10:15 a.m. That day was also the first day of early voting<\/a> in Leon County.<\/p>\n According to Earley, that library is their busiest early voting site. He added that while the vehicles stayed for about ten minutes, their office did not receive any calls from voters. <\/p>\n Earley says he has filed a formal complaint with the FBI and they are \u201ctaking this very seriously.\u201d He says he\u2019s also been in \u201cclose communication\u201d with partners at the local, state and federal level.<\/p>\n The statement continued that voters should not be intimidated by anyone, including law enforcement and government officials. <\/p>\n \u201cI will do everything in my power to ensure that our voters can vote in a fair election free from intimidation or implied threats,\u201d Earley said in a statement.<\/p>\n Earlier this year, Earley told WCTV<\/a> that ICE would not be at polling stations.<\/p>\n \u201cDon\u2019t worry, there\u2019s not going to be ICE at the polling stations. We get that question a lot. I get that from our poll workers during training. No, that\u2019s not happening. Okay. I\u2019ve been assured of that from my contacts and our partners at Homeland Security and FBI, FDLE. Yeah.
