(WFLA) &#8212; A man was arrested after shooting a person in east Tampa, the Hillsborough County Sheriff&#8217;s Office said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The shooting happened Monday at 1:49 p.m. at the Netpark business complex, located near the 6200 block of East Hillsborough Avenue.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">HCSO said Timothy Carter III, 23, fired a gun at two people who were running away from him. One of the victims showed up at the hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the back.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Deputies arrested Carter and found a gun in a nearby trash can. He had an active warrant connected to a robbery in Tampa earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"(Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office)\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/wfla_article_174\/f4713a15295aa8c961d134008819ac17.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>(Hillsborough County Sheriff&#8217;s Office)<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In addition to the warrant, Carter was charged with:<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Attempted murder in the second degree while wearing a mask (firearm &#8211; discharge)<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Aggravated battery great bodily harm or deadly weapon firearm<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Discharge firearm in public or on residential property while wearing a mask<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Felon in possession of a firearm (x2)<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Robbery with a firearm (less than $750)<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Tampering with physical evidence<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;As a convicted felon, this individual has no business possessing a firearm,&#8221; Sheriff Chad Chronister said. &#8220;To then shoot someone in the back shows just how violent this criminal truly is.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Carter was released from prison in May after serving time for armed carjacking.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
