{"id":434301,"date":"2026-10-22T02:58:11","date_gmt":"2026-10-22T02:58:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/434301\/"},"modified":"2026-10-22T02:58:11","modified_gmt":"2026-10-22T02:58:11","slug":"maryland-man-arrested-at-fort-lauderdale-airport-after-saying-he-had-bombs-report-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/434301\/","title":{"rendered":"Maryland man arrested at Fort Lauderdale airport after saying he had bombs, report says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 31-year-old Maryland man was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly claiming he had bombs inside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/miami\/tag\/fort-lauderdale-hollywood-international-airport\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Michael Knight is charged with making a false report about a bomb and disorderly intoxication.<\/p>\n<p>According to an arrest report, Knight was inside Terminal 4 around 8:30 p.m. when he approached a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/miami\/tag\/us-customs-and-border-protection\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">U.S. Customs and Border Protection<\/a> officer near Gate G5 and said, &#8220;I got bombs.&#8221; Deputies said Knight told the officer he was joking and tried to walk away before being arrested.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s mind-blowing, but we can&#8217;t let that happen,&#8221; traveler Andrew Greco said.<\/p>\n<p>A federal officer reported seeing Knight earlier dancing throughout Terminal 4 and displaying &#8220;extremely intoxicated&#8221; behavior, according to the report. After being read his Miranda rights, Knight told a detective he drank four <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/miami\/tag\/alcohol\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">alcoholic<\/a> beverages inside the terminal while waiting for his flight, adding that he &#8220;never drinks.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everybody knows that you can&#8217;t really use that terminology anymore,&#8221; traveler Ron Sherry said. &#8220;It&#8217;s just disrespectful whether you&#8217;re drunk or not.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Knight appeared in bond court Wednesday, where a judge set his total bond at $25,500.
