The Hillsborough County Sheriff\u2019s Office arrested a man after he shot an individual in the back and attempted to flee the scene in East Tampa.<\/p>\n
On October 19, 2026, at 1:49 p.m., our 911 Dispatch Center received reports of shots fired in the roadway leading into the Netpark business complex near the 6200 block of East Hillsborough Avenue.\u00a0<\/p>\n
During the investigation, detectives learned the man fired a gun at two individuals as they fled on foot. Shortly after, one of the individuals arrived at a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound to the back. The victim\u2019s injury was non-life-threatening.<\/p>\n
Deputies learned the suspect, Timothy Carter III, 23, was seen nearby, and they quickly located and arrested him. Detectives found the firearm in a nearby trash can.<\/p>\n
As the investigation continued, detectives learned Carter had been released from prison in May 2026 after serving time for Carjacking With a Firearm. It was also determined that Carter had an active warrant issued by the Tampa Police Department on October 8, 2026, for Robbery With a Firearm and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.<\/p>\n
In addition to the active warrant, Carter is being charged with:<\/p>\n
\n\tAttempted Murder in the Second Degree While Wearing a Mask (Firearm – Discharge)
\n\tAggravated Battery Great Bodily Harm or Deadly Weapon Firearm
\n\tDischarge Firearm in Public or on Residential Property While Wearing a Mask
\n\tFelon in Possession of a Firearm (x2)
\n\tRobbery With a Firearm (Less Than $750)
\n\tTampering With Physical Evidence
<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a convicted felon, this individual has no business possessing a firearm,\u201d\u00a0said Sheriff Chad Chronister.\u00a0\u201cTo then shoot someone in the back shows just how violent this criminal truly is.”<\/p>\n
The investigation remains ongoing, and the Public Affairs Office will provide any updates.\u00a0<\/p>\n
