NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) – A young girl was rushed to the hospital after the family dog bit her.<\/p>\n
Miami-Dade Sheriff\u2019s Office deputies and Fire Rescue units responded to the 1700 block of Northwest 66th Street on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n
The owner of the American pit bull, who does not want to be identified, said she arrived to find out the dog had bitten the child.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s usually not an aggressive dog. I don\u2019t really know exactly what happened,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
7News cameras captured blood smeared on the walls around the area of the efficiency where the dog was kept.<\/p>\n
Despite the attack, the owner defended the family dog as \u201clittle kid-friendly.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cShe\u2019s usually a friendly, playful dog. Doesn\u2019t really bite people like that,\u201d the owner said.<\/p>\n
Neighbors described the dog bite.<\/p>\n
\u201cI went to look out my window, and that\u2019s when I saw the dog attacking the girl,\u201d said an area resident. \u201cI got nervous because I saw that the girl was bleeding a lot from her arm.\u201d<\/p>\n
Upon the deputies\u2019 arrival, MDSO said one of their deputies was approached by the pit bull, forcing them to deploy a taser to prevent another attack. The dog wasn\u2019t struck and fled the scene.<\/p>\n
\u201cI heard police did tase him and I don\u2019t know where he is,\u201d said the dog owner.<\/p>\n
The girl was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital. As of late Wednesday night, her condition remains unclear.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe loves little kids. I have no idea what happened. What triggered him or could have triggered him at this point,\u201d said the dog owner.<\/p>\n
While the pit bull\u2019s location remains unclear, 7News cameras captured a dog that looked strikingly similar wandering the street around the home.<\/p>\n
Miami-Dade Animals Services did not respond to a 7News\u2019 request for comment on Wednesday night. <\/p>\n
