TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The North Florida Fair is preparing to welcome more than 150,000 visitors next month, and organizers say fairgoers will notice expanded security measures when the gates open in November.

The 84th annual North Florida Fair runs Nov. 5 through Nov. 15 at the North Florida Fairgrounds in Tallahassee. The fairgrounds span 55 acres and Executive Director Miranda Muir said serious incidents have been rare in past years, but the fair is updating its approach.

“I think it’s just the changing of the times. You know, we want to make sure that we always stay up to date with technologies and whether that’s ticketing, ride safety, ground safety,” Muir said.

This year, the fair has formally adopted a new guest code of conduct outlining behavior that will not be tolerated. Organizers said the rules prohibit fighting, threats, blocking walkways, throwing objects and face coverings that conceal someone’s identity, with certain exceptions. Guests who violate the rules could be removed without a refund or denied future entry.

“We wanted to make sure that people understand that if you come here and you don’t follow the rules or you are bothering other individuals or you are causing trouble you’re going to be asked to leave,” Muir said.

Organizers are also partnering with national security company Andy Frain Services to bring updated screening technology to entrance gates, aimed at detecting weapons and other prohibited items before they enter the fairgrounds.

In a statement, company representative Cody Dalga said, “Event security is not simply a service — it is a responsibility and a commitment to protecting lives and communities.”

Beyond the gates, Muir said new elevated platforms will be used to help officers monitor crowds, and a separate team called “fence walkers” will walk the perimeter fencing. Additional Leon County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Tallahassee police and private security will also be stationed throughout the fairgrounds.

“If there is a problem, I think within seconds, you’re going to see a police officer or a security officer address the issue and be right on site to make sure that that stops immediately,” Muir said.

Tickets are already available online, and organizers are encouraging visitors to review the new code of conduct before attending.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The North Florida Fair is preparing to welcome more than 150,000 visitors next month, and…

[16
232,234,233
post-434392","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-tallahassee","tag-tallahassee","tag-tallahassee-headlines","tag-tallahassee-news
["GET
