A group of regulars at the Sand Bar turned a Pink Party in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month into a fundraiser for a local charity over the weekend, raising over $500 from local businesses.

When locals Paige Jones, Julie Pohutsky, Trace Heimerl Smith, Kathy Nee, and Linda Brenner heard that the Sand Bar was hosting the event, the five saw an opportunity to turn what was originally a fun evening into a charitable cause. After coordinating with the owners, they chose to donate to Partners for Breast Cancer Care, a local nonprofit that provides breast cancer treatment to low-income and uninsured women and men in Southwest Florida, with a full continuum of treatment at no cost.

The group pulled together their donations from only three days of canvassing local businesses, which Brenner said were eager to partner with them to support the cause, many businesses donating for the raffle and other supplies to bring the fundraiser together.

The entire bar was packed with people on the night of the event, several dressed in flamboyant pink costumes, dancing as they listened to a performance from the Big Cyprus Band. A portion of the proceeds from the business that night was also donated to the charity.

“What started as a simple Pink Party has grown into a wonderful opportunity to bring our community together, raise awareness, and make a meaningful difference,” said Brenner. “We are excited about the potential of this event and look forward to making it an annual tradition in the years to come.’

[14
10407,209,211,210,6630,5926,6625,6628,6629,6632,6627,5387,6631,6633,170314,170313,6626,6634
post-434642","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-cape-coral","tag-breast-cancer-awareness-month","tag-cape-coral","tag-cape-coral-headlines","tag-cape-coral-news","tag-coastal-breeze-news","tag-collier-county","tag-collier-news","tag-marco-island","tag-marco-island-florida","tag-marco-island-news","tag-marco-news","tag-naples","tag-naples-area","tag-naples-florida-news","tag-partners-for-breast-cancer-care","tag-sand-bar","tag-swfl","tag-swfl-coast
["GET
