A man was arrested in Cape Coral on Sunday after being accused of DUI when officers saw him drive on the wrong side of the road.<\/p>\n
According to the Cape Coral Police Department arrest report, at around 1:47 a.m., officers noticed a black Chevrolet Silverado traveling southbound in a northbound lane on Southeast 17th Place near Cape Coral Parkway East.<\/p>\n
Officers stopped the truck near the 1900 block of Cape Coral Parkway East and spoke with the driver, identified as Jon Thomas Henderson, 39, the report said. Officers noticed a strong smell of alcohol emanating from the truck and noticed that Henderson was exhibiting several signs of being impaired, including slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and dilated pupils.<\/p>\n
Henderson was asked to step out of the vehicle but did not comply, attempting to call someone on his phone, the report said. Officers then opened the door and pulled Henderson out of the truck. Henderson refused to participate in Standard Field Sobriety Exercises and refused to provide a breath sample, officers said.<\/p>\n
Henderson was arrested and faces charges of DUI (3rd violation within 10 years), refusal to submit to DUI testing, resisting an officer without violence and driving with a suspended license stemming from a DUI.<\/p>\n
