Byron Donalds, the Republican nominee for governor, is in the midst of a campaign blitz on the \u201cDefending the Florida Dream Tour.\u201d Donalds rallied Republican supporters at two South Florida Cuban restaurants.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He started the Miami tour at La Carreta restaurant. In a crowded room packed with supporters, he rallied about law and order and affordability for Floridians.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a real simple one, we\u2019re gonna keep this short and sweet. In 14 days, Florida will choose a new governor\u2026 in 14 days, I\u2019m gonna be your new governor,\u201d Donalds said as he started the event.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The crowd cheered \u201cUSA, USA, USA.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Donalds likened the protest<\/a> in Paris to what will happen if Democrats win in November.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cDoes everybody see what\u2019s going on in Paris right now?\u201d Donalds asked the crowd. \u201cThese riots and radicalism happen in a country that happens in a city that happens in a state where your leadership is weak and your leadership is soft.\u201d Donalds Said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not gonna have the craziness of the radical left here in Florida, we\u2019re not gonna have that.\u201d Donalds said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Donalds pivoted to affordability, which has remained the main issues for the voters. An NBC 6 poll<\/a> found cost of living is the top issue for Floridians.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to drive prices down for people.\u201d \u201cWe want young children to be able to achieve a great dream in Florida,\u201d Donalds said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Donalds and other speakers encouraged the crowd to tell their friends, families and neighbors to vote Republican.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The crowd responded energetically, cheering the candidate. The event ended with a final note \u201cFlorida will never be a home to socialism,\u201d Donalds said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After the event, Donalds met with supporters outside his campaign bus, where he took photos and spoke to supporters.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Bryan Avila, Donalds running mate, stopped at \u201cIslas Canarias,\u201d another Cuban staple restaurant, to rally supporters.\u00a0<\/p>\n

State Rep. Juan Porras appealed to the Cuban American audience: \u201cNo one knows more about how bad socialism is and communism than the people in this room,\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not about Democrats versus Republicans anymore. We are talking about the fundamental values of ours\u2026 This November, we are talking about capitalism versus socialism,\u201d Porras said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Avilia started by saying there are two different visions of Florida, saying, \u201cOne is really a nightmare.\u201d He likened Democratic ideas to the protest in Paris.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe do not want that here in the state of Florida,\u201d Avilia said. He reiterated to supporters to talk to 10 people every day: \u201cI can assure you, that will be the difference,\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The midterm election is 2 weeks away, and a new UNF<\/a> University of North Florida poll found Republicans hold a razor-thin majority over Democrats.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Byron Donalds leads Democrat David Jolly by 2 percentage points. The margin has narrowed. According to the poll 49% would vote forDonalds and 47% said they would vote for Jolly. Four percent of respondents were undecided.\u00a0<\/p>\n

PantherNOW reached out to College Republicans for comment but did not receive a response.\u00a0<\/p>\n
