After more than a year away, a Coral Gables staple is ready to welcome its diners back. Havana harry\u2019s is serving up a fresh new look and some Cuban classics that made the spot a local hit. Deco took a trip down to Coral Gables to check out the new digs and its fan-favorite menu.<\/p>\n
For more than 30 years, Havana Harry\u2019s has been a Miami staple for Cuban comfort food.<\/p>\n
Felix Palencia: \u201cWe focus on the Cuban flavors; that\u2019s why it\u2019s very iconic.\u201d<\/p>\n
Now, after a year behind closed doors, undergoing renovations, the Coral Gables favorite is back.<\/p>\n
Felix Palencia: \u201cWe have a very good-looking restaurant right now, and now we\u2019re back!\u201d<\/p>\n
While the inside is new, the food you\u2019ve grown to love has remained true.<\/p>\n
Felix Palencia: \u201cWe brought back our flavors. We brought back our generous portions, and our recipes are the same.\u201d<\/p>\n
Take the vaca frita, for example.<\/p>\n
Felix Palencia: \u201cOur signature dish is vaca frita. It\u2019s made with slow-cooked, blazed meat. Shredded and then saut\u00e9ed with onions and Cuban mojo.\u201d<\/p>\n
There\u2019s also the ham and cheese milanesa.<\/p>\n
Felix Palencia: \u201cOur ham milanesa, which is very famous, is a breaded steak with ham, cheese on top and the milanesa sauce. It\u2019s very, very nice, very generous portion.\u201d<\/p>\n
No Cuban meal would be complete without a mojito, and then there\u2019s dessert.<\/p>\n
Felix Palencia: \u201cThe Nutella Overdose, which is a very, very nice dessert. It\u2019s made with vanilla ice cream mixed with Nutella, a piece of brownie on top. Topped with ice cream, chocolate crumble, chocolate gouache and whipped cream.\u201d<\/p>\n
So whether it\u2019s dinner, dessert or the new layout, customers are just glad it\u2019s back.<\/p>\n
Customer: \u201cWe came for dinner, and I walked in, and I thought, \u2018Wow, they\u2019ve redone the whole place; it looks beautiful,\u2019 and the food is great, like it\u2019s always been. It\u2019s just delicious.\u201d<\/p>\n
