JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 The Jacksonville Transportation Authority\u2019s outgoing CEO has been subpoenaed to appear in front of a City Council committee.<\/p>\n
Action News Jax learned that Nat Ford was served by the Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n
>>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<<<\/a><\/p>\n We told you on Tuesday<\/a> when the Jacksonville City Council Finance Committee voted to subpoena Ford.<\/p>\n Jacksonville City Councilman Rory Diamond said Tuesday<\/a> that Ford has agreed to testify. An exact date for him to testify has not been set. <\/p>\n We first told you in an Action News Jax Investigation<\/a> nearly three years ago that there was severe mismanagement at JTA.<\/p>\n [DOWNLOAD: Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks<\/a>]<\/p>\n It ultimately resulted in<\/a> nearly 200 people being laid off and a nearly $40 million budget shortfall.<\/p>\n Many city leaders are calling for accountability<\/a>, including from Ford, who is leaving JTA<\/a> for a new transportation job in Dallas.<\/p>\n [SIGN UP: Action News Jax Daily Headlines Newsletter<\/a>] <\/p>\n City Council President Nick Howland sent Action News Jax the following statement about Ford being served a subpoena, and what will be addressed during Council meetings on Friday mornings about Ford\u2019s testimony:<\/p>\n \u201cThis morning JSO served Nat Ford with a subpoena to testify before tomorrow\u2019s special Finance Committee meeting. Mr. Ford promptly responded, expressing his willingness to cooperate. Although he is unavailable tomorrow, we will coordinate a mutually agreeable date for his testimony, either in person or virtually.<\/p>\n \u201cTomorrow morning\u2019s special meeting is expected to be brief.
