TAMPA, Fla. (TNND) \u2014 A Florida rapper convicted of killing his pregnant girlfriend and her unborn child reportedly asked to be executed. <\/p>\n
Billy Adams III, 28, who authorities said is also known by his stage name “Ace NH,” wrote a letter to Hillsborough Circuit Judge Mark Wolfe asking him to follow a jury’s death recommendation, according to WTSP<\/a>.<\/p>\n “I don\u2019t have an issue with the death penalty,” Adams wrote in the letter, the media outlet reported on Wednesday.<\/p>\n Adams was convicted in September of first-degree murder and killing an unborn child by injury to the mother in the January 2023 shooting death of Alana Sims, 22, per WTSP<\/a>. The outlet noted Sims was five months pregnant at the time of her death.<\/p>\n The jury recommended life in prison without parole for Sims’ murder, but voted 8-4 to recommend a death sentence for the unborn child\u2019s death, WTSP<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n In the handwritten letter, which WTSP<\/a> said was filed on October 12, Adams wrote that he had no issue with the death penalty. He added that he did not want attorneys to offer mitigation evidence or argument at his sentencing hearing on December 1.<\/p>\n The judge is not required to impose the jury\u2019s recommendation. Wolfe can sentence Adams to death or life in prison.<\/p>\n Prosecutors said Adams killed Sims after she refused to end her pregnancy, the outlet reported, citing prior court coverage. While Adams believed he was the father, testing later showed he was not, the outlet noted.<\/p>\n Adams’ request does not end the sentencing process. The court must still determine whether he is competent to make the decision and consider the evidence before imposing sentence.<\/p>\n Adam was previously arrested in connection with a separate double murder dating back to 2020<\/a>, according to authorities. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said he was charged with two counts of premeditated first-degree murder with a firearm and one count of armed burglary of a structure for the deaths of two alleged gang members. <\/p>\n
