{"id":436669,"date":"2026-10-24T09:08:16","date_gmt":"2026-10-24T09:08:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/436669\/"},"modified":"2026-10-24T09:08:16","modified_gmt":"2026-10-24T09:08:16","slug":"newly-released-body-camera-video-shows-deadly-sweetwater-police-shooting-deemed-justified-nbc-6-south-florida","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/436669\/","title":{"rendered":"Newly released body camera video shows deadly Sweetwater Police shooting deemed justified \u2013 NBC 6 South Florida"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Newly released body camera video shows the moments leading up to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcmiami.com\/news\/local\/officer-police-deadly-shooting-sweetwater\/3779944\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">a fatal police shooting<\/a> in Sweetwater involving a man who authorities said was armed with a knife during a domestic disturbance in March.<\/p>\n<p>The Miami-Dade State Attorney\u2019s Office closed its investigation last week, determining that the three officers involved were justified in using deadly force.<\/p>\n<p>According to documents from the State Attorney\u2019s Office, Sweetwater Police officers responded to a 911 call involving an argument between a husband and his pregnant wife. The caller warned dispatchers that the man, identified as Frank Diaz, had a knife.<\/p>\n<p>In the newly released body camera footage, officers can be heard repeatedly ordering Diaz to drop the knife.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDrop the knife right now,\u201d one officer can be heard shouting.<\/p>\n<p>Moments later, an officer can be heard yelling, \u201cShoot,\u201d before officers open fire.<\/p>\n<p>According to the State Attorney\u2019s Office, three officers discharged their weapons.
