TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – As election season rolls on, the race for City Commission Seat 5 remains tense.<\/p>\n
Dot Inman Johnson has filed a lawsuit against political action committee (PAC) Tallahassee United, which backs her opponent, Dianne Williams-Cox.<\/p>\n
The lawsuit zeroes in on ads and mailers sent by the PAC accusing Inman-Johnson of taking cash for votes.<\/p>\n
According to the suit, the ads cite a newspaper article speculating about a 1988 land swap deal.<\/p>\n
The suit argues that the claim is false, and the language pushes the idea that Inman-Johnson was convicted by some legal authority.<\/p>\n
Court documents argue Inman-Johnson\u2019s reputation has been hurt by the ads and flyers. <\/p>\n
Inman-Johnson hosted a press conference on Monday to talk about the lawsuit.<\/p>\n

Inman-Johnson laid out the allegations in the defamation suit and spoke alongside local pastors and other supporters. <\/p>\n
\u201cSo when people started calling to my attention to the truly ugly and false ads that they were receiving in their mailbox about me, I could not believe it because they could not find something real to use against me,\u201d Inman-Johnson said.<\/p>\n
The suit names the PAC and notes it has contributed to Williams-Cox\u2019s campaign.<\/p>\n
WCTV reached out to Williams-Cox about the lawsuit.<\/p>\n
She said she is focused on the shooting over the weekend and was not focused on other things at the moment.<\/p>\n
Inman-Johnson did not mention the Perry Street shooting at her press conference on Monday.<\/p>\n
