ORLANDO, Fla. \u2013 Central Florida is off to a beautiful start this week<\/a>, with a welcome taste of fall<\/a> in the air. <\/p>\n

After weeks of heat and humidity, we\u2019re finally seeing cooler mornings, comfortable afternoons and plenty of sunshine.<\/p>\n

Early Monday, temperatures across much of the region dipped into the 60s, with a few of our northern interior counties\u2014such as Marion and northern Lake\u2014waking up to readings in the upper 50s. <\/p>\n

It was a crisp, refreshing start, and those milder conditions will continue in the afternoon, with highs in Orlando expected to reach around 83 degrees. A light northerly breeze and lower humidity will make for an ideal mid-October day.<\/p>\n

This stretch of near-to-slightly-below-average temperatures will hold steady throughout the week. <\/p>\n

Daytime highs will remain in the low to mid-80s, and overnight lows will fall comfortably into the 60s. <\/p>\n

Rain chances stay quite low for most of the region, though a few isolated coastal showers may develop Wednesday into Thursday as some Atlantic moisture begins to move onshore.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile in the tropics, Tropical Storm Lorenzo was officially named Monday morning by the National Hurricane Center. <\/p>\n

Lorenzo was located in the central Atlantic and is forecast to remain over open waters. <\/p>\n

All reliable model guidance continues to show no threat to Florida or the southeastern U.S., and there are no local impacts expected from this system.<\/p>\n

Back home, beach and marine conditions remain hazardous. <\/p>\n

A high risk of life-threatening rip currents continues along the east coast beaches and recent swells have also contributed to coastal erosion in some areas. Visitors are urged to stay out of the surf and pay close attention to posted warnings and lifeguard guidance.<\/p>\n

Along the St. Johns River, water levels at Astor remain in moderate flood stage and will likely hold there through the week. Other upstream points, including Deland, Sanford and Geneva, remain elevated as well.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead to the weekend, Central Florida will continue to enjoy mostly dry and pleasant conditions. <\/p>\n

Highs will hold in the low to mid-80s, with overnight lows in the 60s \u2014ideal weather for outdoor plans, fall festivals and spending time outside.<\/a> <\/p>\n

While some model uncertainty develops beyond Saturday, no significant weather threats are currently expected for our area.<\/p>\n
