A man was arrested after officers with the Cape Coral Police Department say he hit a canal marker and drove away.<\/p>\n

According to an arrest report, officers were called to a home at the 1100 block of Northeast 14th Avenue in reference to a reported burglary in progress on Monday.<\/p>\n

Officers were told that a shirtless man had opened the front door to the residence. When officers arrived, they saw the man sitting in a silver Subaru. He was later identified as William Kitchens, 43.<\/p>\n

Kitchens was detained, and video footage was obtained by CCPD that reportedly shows him reversing his car into a city-owned canal marker. The footage reportedly shows Kitchens leaving the scene without providing any information. The report says that Kitchens caused around $1,000 of damage.<\/p>\n

Later, doorbell camera footage was obtained that reportedly shows Kitchens walking up to the home, ringing the bell, and asking to use the bathroom. Officers could not find footage showing him opening the front door.<\/p>\n

Kitchens was arrested and faces charges of hit and run, resisting an officer without violence, and driving with a suspended license.<\/p>\n
