After the post-COVID surge in 2022 and 2023, activity has moderated. For the year through September, Northrop & Johnson tallied a small dip in used yacht transactions over 78 feet, down about 1% compared with a year earlier, and total dollars changing hands fell roughly 5%. On the new-build side for boats above 78 feet, orders have stepped down from 266 last year to 216 so far in 2026.<\/p>\n

In that vein, orders in the 40 to 50 meter band – about 131 to 164 feet – rose from 49 to 63 this year, according to Northrop & Johnson. “In the last four or five years, we’ve definitely been in a situation where we’re inventory constrained at the very top end,” said Anders Kurt\u00e9n, CEO of Fraser Yachts. “Demand is greater than supply.”<\/p>\n

The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show kicks off Wednesday, Oct. 28 with more than 150 yachts on display. Monaco’s show in September drew strong foot traffic and deals; Fraser brought four yachts and secured a contract during the event. Looking ahead to Fort Lauderdale, Kurt\u00e9n said Fraser expects to exhibit eight or nine yachts.<\/p>\n

He had aimed for more, but four that were slated for the show sold in recent weeks. “I think that tells you something about the state of the market in general,” he said.<\/p>\n
