As a precaution, the office cut off outside internet access while it investigated. The clerk\u2019s office says it has found no ransomware and no compromised information.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The shutdown can help prevent an attacker from sending more commands, the expert said. Cybersecurity threats often involve phishing, misconfigurations or stolen login credentials, according to ThreatLocker.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Separately, the Florida Department of Education reported finding a breach last Monday involving its financial aid website. The department says the incident may have exposed the Social Security numbers of students among the nearly 5 million people affected.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The expert warned that scammers may use the breach to send convincing emails asking people to update account information and direct them to fake websites.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">People who may be affected should consider freezing their credit with the major credit bureaus and stay alert for phishing attempts, the expert said.
