JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. \u2013 White Castle is one step closer to opening its first Northeast Florida restaurant, according to a r<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jaxdailyrecord.com\/news\/2026\/oct\/28\/white-castle-issued-permit-for-st-johns-county\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.jaxdailyrecord.com\/news\/2026\/oct\/28\/white-castle-issued-permit-for-st-johns-county\/\">eport from our news partners, The Jacksonville Daily Record<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">St. Johns County issued a building permit Wednesday for the project at a project cost of $1.95 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The 2,764-square-foot restaurant, with a 270-square-foot outdoor seating area and dual drive-thru, is planned for an outparcel at a Walmart Supercenter under construction at World Commerce Center off International Golf Parkway and Florida 16, just south of Tocoi Creek High School.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The supercenter, at 3405 International Golf Parkway, is about 2 miles west of Bass Pro Shops, Buc-ee\u2019s and Costco at World Commerce Center.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">An opening date has not been announced.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Columbus, Ohio-based Archall Architects is White Castle\u2019s long-standing architect. Gatlin Development Co., through IGP WCC Project LLC, is the property owner, according to the county property appraiser\u2019s website. Steinemann &amp; Co. is the developer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">White Castle has Florida restaurants in Clermont, Daytona Beach Kissimmee and Orlando.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Founded in 1921 in Wichita, Kansas, by Billy Ingram, White Castle says on its website that it has about 400 locations.
