Shocking. That’s about the only word we can use to describe Georgia’s loss to Auburn in Athens. The Tigers being the ones to snap the Bulldogs’ 53-game win streak (against unranked teams) was not on our bingo card. Yet, it happened. In today’s era of college football, this is simply the world we live in. NIL has balanced the playing field. There are no more dynasties, and anyone can beat anyone on any given week. Like we said in this column two weeks ago: humility is a week away. After coming off a riveting victory in Tuscaloosa against the Tide, Bulldog Nation sat in Sanford Stadium and watched the Tigers win on a walk-off field goal.

While we are excited about this year’s Georgia-Florida matchup in Mercedes-Benz Stadium, we are disappointed that we will not be making the annual trip down to St. Simons Island. As seniors at the University of Georgia, this would have been our last chance to experience Frat Beach and all the other traditions that come with it.

It’s been over 30 years since this game was not played in Jacksonville, so it will certainly be different seeing this battle be fought outside of Duval County. Again, the displacement comes due to stadium renovations. There was a home-and-away series in 1994-95 during the renovations being made to, at the time, Jacksonville Municipal Stadium.

This is a historic moment for both programs. Chances to play in two different NFL stadiums in back-to-back years. First, in Atlanta. Next, in Tampa.

We’re interested to see the fan turnout for this game in Mercedes-Benz. Like we mentioned, Georgia fans typically look forward to a trip to St. Simons, gathering along with thousands of other Bulldog fans. Will a majority of Bulldogs follow the tradition and still head down to south Georgia for the matchup or pack out the Benz in red and blac

It feels like a must-win game for both teams, which is something this rivalry hasn’t seen in recent years with Florida’s struggles since 2020. The SEC standings are wide open, with 10 teams having two or less conference losse

Hot Take of the Week:

A Georgia wide receiver records over 100 yards. This matchup is always a battle for 60 minutes, with a player for either side being the difference maker to pull out the win. Last year against the Gators, Zachariah Branch had 112 receiving yards on 10 receptions, so we’re predicting one of the Bulldogs’ playmakers to have a similar performance. Florida’s defense gives up around 240 passing yards per game, with their defensive strength being more reliant on the run game. Will Talyn Taylor break away on screen passes? Will Craig Dandridge catch a deep pass behind Florida’s secondary?

Shocking.
