Steube Supports Federal Funding for Cape Coral Bridge Replacement and Expansion \u2013 Congressman Steube"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\tOctober 23, 2026 | Press Releases <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WASHINGTON, D.C.\u2013-U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) sent a letter to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) in support of Lee County\u2019s Bridge Investment Program application to replace and expand the Cape Coral Bridge, which carries approximately 50,000 trips daily across the Caloosahatchee River.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSouthwest Florida is growing, and our infrastructure needs to keep up,\u201d\u00a0said Rep. Steube.\u00a0\u201cFamilies shouldn\u2019t have to sit in endless traffic or worry about whether our roads can handle the next major hurricane. Lee County has put forward a strong proposal, and it\u2019s time for the federal government to step up and support this investment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The project would replace two existing bridges and expand the corridor from four to six lanes.
