ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — You wanted spooky, and St. Pete delivered!

The Museum of Haunted History is opening its doors in St. Petersburg, giving ghost hunters and paranormal enthusiasts a chance to explore a collection of eerie artifacts, unexplained encounters and stories from the other side.

The museum features antique dolls, paranormal investigation equipment and what may be its most chilling exhibit … Irene’s wedding gown.

According to museum curator Dr. Brandy Stark, the dress is believed to be haunted by a bride who died in the 1990s, shortly after getting married. The story goes that she died in a car on the way to her wedding reception.

And the eerie encounters may not end with the exhibits.

The team behind the museum says it has captured what it believes are unexplained voices inside the historic bungalow. Guests have also had the opportunity to participate in paranormal experiences at the museum.

Stark says the team has experienced cold spots, detected activity on REM pods and electromagnetic field (EMF) meters, conducted spirit box sessions and recorded electronic voice phenomena, or EVPs.

The team has also reported seeing placards move, and Stark says she is curious to see what might happen in the doll room, where the collection could bring a whole new set of personalities into the mix.

While the stories may send a chill down your spine, Stark says the museum is not intended to be a traditional haunted house. Instead, she wants to offer visitors an experience that is historic, educational and entertaining while providing a thoughtful way to explore the supernatural.

The response has already been encouraging, according to Stark, with plans underway to expand the collection and offer more paranormal experiences.

For those brave enough to take the investigation a step further, the team has also offered guests the chance to experience paranormal investigations at the museum.

Would you spend the night investigating the unexplained?
