ORLANDO, Fla. \u2013\u00a0The No. 17 Tulane bowling team concluded day one of action at AMF Sky Lanes Friday with a 2-3 record in the Destination Florida. All three losses came to ranked foes in a deep and challenging field.

\nCompetition today saw five sets of five Baker matches. The first came against No. 14 Niagara, a 1,073-925 loss for the Green Wave. Tulane bounced back against Southern with a 976-859 victory before squaring off against No. 6 Youngstown State. The Penguins secured a tight win, 1,011-919. Tulane broke 1,000 against Alabama State, winning by a margin of 1,086-945. The day ended with a match-up against No. 11 Wright State, a 964-845 Tulane loss.

\nTulane tallied 4,751 total pins today at an average of 190.0 per game. This slots the Wave at 15th in the 23-team standings after day one of action.

\nPlay continues tomorrow with the second day of qualifying action, which features five traditional games. Tulane will start up at 8:25 a.m. CT with a tilt against No. 9 North Carolina A&T. Contests against St. Anslem, No. 5 Nebraska, No. 20 UAB, and Emmanuel will follow.<\/p>\n
