Florida football and Georgia will renew their long-time border rivalry in a new location when the two schools meet this year in Atlanta.

The No. 20 Florida Gators (5-2, 3-2 SEC) and No. 3 Bulldogs (6-1, 4-1 SEC) will play on Georgia soil for the first time since Oct 28, 1995, when Florida beat Georgia 52-17 at Sanford Stadium in Athens.

Florida and Georgia have played every year in Jacksonville for every year since 1933, save for 1994 and 1995, when the games went to campus sites due to stadium renovations for the Jacksonville Jaguars. With EverBank Stadium again undergoing a $1.4 billion facelift, Florida will play the game in Mercedes Benz-Stadium in Atlanta this year and at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa in 2027 before moving back to Jacksonville in 2028.

Florida enters the game with redshirt sophomore Aaron Philo back at starting quarterback. The 6-foot-2, 207-pound Philo missed one game with a shoulder injury he suffered during UF’s 38-19 loss to South Carolina on Oct. 10.

With Philo out, redshirt freshman Tramell Jones Jr. led Florida to a 27-24 upset win over Texas in his first career start, passing for 155 yards and 2 TDs.

Philo grew up in Bogart, Georgia, just 13 miles from Georgia’s campus in Athens. He’s gone 4-2 as a starter this season and ranks second in the SEC in completion percentage (70.2%) and eighth in passing (223.5 ypg).

Georgia is led by second-year starting quarterback Gunner Stockton, who has passed for 1,570 yards with 16 TDs to 4 interceptions this season.
