Gov. Ron DeSantis\u2019 administration this week continued its holiday tradition of targeting Christmas drag shows.<\/p>\n

In a\u00a0letter<\/a>\u00a0to Pensacola City Council, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier called \u201cA Drag Queen Christmas,\u201d the touring show of RuPaul\u2019s Drag Race stars, \u201copenly anti-Christian,\u201d expressing his concern it would result in religious discrimination.<\/p>\n

The show, he said, \u201copenly mocks one of the most sacred holidays in the Christian faith.\u201d<\/p>\n

No word on if he\u2019s coming after\u00a0Orlando resident The Grinch<\/a>, who\u2019s never been criticized in his 68 years and three remakes for mocking Christmas.<\/p>\n

Uthmeier also claimed the queens are attempting to \u201cexpose themselves to the kids innocently enjoying Christmas festivities\u201d at a nearby winter festival, despite the event being a ticketed 18-and-up show. He\u2019s\u00a0still trying<\/a>\u00a0to reignite the blocked 2023 law restricting drag shows.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not the first time the DeSantis administration has come after this drag show specifically. In 2022, the administration targeted liquor licenses at the Hyatt Regency Miami\u00a0and Orlando\u2019s Plaza Live for hosting a \u201cDrag Queen Christmas.\u201d\u00a0That same year, Proud Boys and evangelists protested outside its Clearwater appearance at Ruth Eckerd Hall<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Two days before Christmas, Pensacola will host a demonic, sexually explicit drag show at the city-owned Saenger Theatre.<\/p>\n

This year, Uthmeier attacked specific queens.<\/p>\n

In his letter, the Attorney General specifically denounced Suzie Toot (calling her \u00a0\u201cdemonic Betty Bop,\u201d\u00a0a misspelled reference to her\u00a0Vogue photoshoot<\/a>); Bosco, AKA \u201cthe Demon Queen of Seattle\u201d; and Crystal Methyd, for her \u201cglamorous and beautiful\u201d satanic imagery.<\/p>\n

Trinity \u201cThe Tuck\u201d also got a shoutout for her role in previous versions of the show. And since Uthmeier opened the library, Trinity read him back.<\/p>\n

In a video addressing \u201cJames Urethra,\u201d Trinity clarified that the show is not anti-Christian.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2019A Drag Queen Christmas\u2019 is mostly about stupid Christmas numbers, not necessarily about the birth of Jesus. Regardless of that, drag is an art form that is free speech, and we are allowed to do that by law.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trinity encouraged Floridians to sell out every \u201cA Drag Queen Christmas\u201d show in the state as an act of resistance.<\/p>\n

\u201cShow them the support so we can show this administration \u2026 drag is fun, drag is art, and it\u2019s not hurting anybody,\u201d Trinity said. \u201cIf you\u2019re worried about children, worry about gun control and feeding them instead of worrying about drag queens.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cA Drag Queen Christmas\u201d returns to Clearwater\u2019s Ruth Eckerd Hall on Dec. 22, the day before it\u2019s slated for Pensacola. Tickets start at $49.<\/a><\/p>\n
