CAPE CORAL, Fla. (WINK) \u2014\u00a0The Cape Coral Police Department said a domestic incident on Southwest 20th Street led to a barricaded suspect and a SWAT response overnight.<\/p>\n
CCPD told our WINK reporter Shelby Ray that, \u201cThis was a domestic incident that led to a suspect barricading inside a home,\u201d and the situation has been resolved.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Footage from the overnight scene shows officers removing an undressed man from the home, SWAT team members deploying smoke, officers trying to gain access through a back window and damage to the garage door and a top-floor window.<\/p>\n
\u201cI got home from the gym around 9:30, and then there was probably 15 cop cars over here, and then a few ambulances,\u201d Tommy Robertson, a nearby renter, said. \u201cThey were sounding their sirens and that probably went on for about three hours straight, and then everything kind of got quiet after 12:30.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery so often you heard the shots go off, and then I saw the battering ram come in. I saw them breach the garage door, but that was right around 3 o’clock, 3 a.m.,\u201d Anthony Piccone, a longtime neighbor, said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen they breached the door, I saw a couple of tactical teams go in through the garage door, and then I think it was about \u2014 I might be off on the time \u2014 I think it was about 4 a.m., and about 15 minutes later, they took them out in handcuffs, and they’re still here this morning.\u201d<\/p>\n
Piccone said this was not the first time something like this has happened. Cape Coral police did not release any other information about the incident.
