ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —

A Miramar man was arrested on a DUI charge early Sunday after his pickup truck struck a guardrail on State Road 417, triggering multiple chain-reaction crashes, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Aden Elijah Martinez, 23, told a trooper he had lost control of his Ford F-150 on the wet roadway around 12:25 a.m. and struck the guardrail near mile marker 30 on northbound SR 417, an arrest report said.

FHP said the initial crash caused multiple chain-reaction crashes. All crash scenes have since been cleared.

A bystander directed the trooper to Martinez, who was involved in a physical altercation with a man who identified himself as Martinez’s father, according to the report. The father told the trooper he was trying to restrain Martinez because he appeared intoxicated and was behaving irrationally.

The trooper handcuffed Martinez and placed him in a patrol vehicle. Orange County Fire Rescue evaluated Martinez for minor cuts sustained during the altercation and released him back into the trooper’s custody, the report said.

The trooper reported that Martinez had bloodshot, watery eyes and smelled of alcohol. FHP says Field sobriety exercises were not conducted because the trooper said they did not believe it was safe to do so.

Martinez was arrested on a charge of DUI with damage to property or to another person. He later provided breath samples that registered 0.205 and 0.201, according to the report.

Martinez was taken to HCA Millenia Hospital for medical clearance before being transported to the Orange County Jail.

A pickup truck struck a guardrail early Sunday in Orange County, causing multiple chain-reaction crashes, according to the…

[11
13165,155142,1178,5695,1223,157188,19762,1056,618,7870,77130,29306,24239,173135,1335,35105,139,141,140,78649,8856,16241,8774
post-444420","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-orlando","tag-arrest-report","tag-chain-reaction-crash","tag-damage","tag-dui","tag-dui-arrest","tag-dui-charge","tag-father","tag-fhp","tag-florida-highway-patrol","tag-guardrail","tag-martinez","tag-mile-marker","tag-miramar","tag-miramar-man","tag-orange-county","tag-orange-county-fire-rescue","tag-orlando","tag-orlando-headlines","tag-orlando-news","tag-physical-altercation","tag-sr-417","tag-sr","tag-trooper
["GET
