But now a federal grant will bring sidewalks and other improvements to the street in a few years.<\/p>\n<p>Leon County Commission Chair Cristian Caban says Tharpe Street from Ocala Road to Mission Road is downright dangerous for pedestrians.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Dirt paths where children and families literally walk on the road just to go to school, just to go to the store, just to participate in their everyday lives.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But the federal government has now given a $23.5 million grant to the Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency to build sidewalks and make other improvements to West Tharpe Street.
