The haunting last words of the pilot killed when a business jet crashed in South Florida<\/a> have been revealed.<\/p>\n

\u200bAll nine people onboard the Learjet 60 died when it nose-dived on Sunday and exploded into a fireball near Cresthaven – around nine miles from President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u200b”We’re descending 8,000 – mayday, mayday,” the pilot radioed in audio obtained by Sky News <\/a>and CNN<\/a>. “We’re descending 10,000 feet per minute.”<\/p>\n

“We are in an overspeed condition descending 20,000 feet per minute\u200b,” the pilot continued. “We’re going to crash into the ground.”<\/p>\n

\u200bAround 35 seconds after that initial mayday call, the pilot said: “We’re out of time.”<\/p>\n

\u200bThe aircraft had left Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas<\/a> and was bound for the Bahamas.<\/p>\n

Footage of the crash was recorded by witnesses, with one capturing the moment that the plane erupted into a huge fireball by the roadside.<\/p>\n

At the scene, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis<\/a> described the crash to reporters.<\/p>\n

“It was a cataclysmic plane crash,” DeSantis said. “It looked like a missile going down and left a big crater on the side of the road.”<\/p>\n

DeSantis added that there were no immediate reports of anyone on the ground being killed or injured in the crash.<\/p>\n

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has confirmed<\/a> on social media that the Federal Aviation Administration is sending a team to assist an investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board into the incident.<\/p>\n

The FAA has not yet confirmed what caused the crash.<\/p>\n

The pilot had reported that ice had begun accumulating on the aircraft and noted an outside temperature of -47 degrees Celsius, according to CNN<\/a>, which reviewed records on LiveATC.net. The plane also experienced turbulence that bounced the plane by around 700 feet.<\/p>\n

Shortly before the mayday call, the pilot requested that the plane be allowed to climb due to the aircraft encountering precipitation.<\/p>\n

According to ADS-B Exchange data reviewed by CNN, the plane would eventually descend 27,000 feet in just one minute.<\/p>\n

The nine victims of the crash have not yet been named. Also, authorities have yet to detail how many of the victims were passengers and how many were members of the plane’s crew.<\/p>\n

DeSantis said during the press conference that he did not know whether anyone onboard the plane was from Florida.<\/p>\n

The Independent has contacted the FAA for comment.<\/p>\n
