Nagi by SoHo Sushi opened Monday in the former GenX Tavern space in downtown Tampa.<\/p>\n

Expect Japanese food like sushi, bento boxes, skewers, nigiri and sashimi.<\/p>\n

One experience the restaurant is offering is tableside sushi from a custom-built sushi cart, crafting an omakase meal at the dining table.<\/p>\n

Kombu poached shrimp with tomato soy dashi and wasabi guacamole at Nagi by SoHo Sushi. The izakaya opened Monday in downtown Tampa.<\/p>\n

Nagi is calling itself a “modern izakaya,” essentially a Japanese-style bar or tavern that serves shareable snacks.<\/p>\n

The cocktail lounge includes Japanese whiskey, housemade libations and an ice program.<\/p>\n

“Nagi isn’t just a meal \u2014 it’s a journey into the heart of Japanese hospitality, refined for the modern epicurean,” owner Dave Burton said by email Monday.<\/p>\n

SoHo Sushi opened over 20 years ago in South Tampa. Both restaurants are owned and managed by Burton Holdings, helmed by Burton, who acquired SoHo Sushi in 2022.<\/p>\n

Nagi is open for lunch and dinner Monday-Friday and dinner on Saturday-Sunday. The spot will be launching late-night programming Thursday-Saturday in late November with Tampa-based DJ Ku.<\/p>\n

“This has been a long road, and we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve created,” a news release said.<\/p>\n
