{"id":445983,"date":"2026-11-03T09:42:09","date_gmt":"2026-11-03T09:42:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/445983\/"},"modified":"2026-11-03T09:42:09","modified_gmt":"2026-11-03T09:42:09","slug":"luka-doncic-lakers-blow-past-heat-138-117-hot-hot-hoops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/445983\/","title":{"rendered":"Luka Doncic, Lakers blow past Heat, 138-117 &#8211; Hot Hot Hoops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"720\" height=\"405\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/11\/images-ImagnImages-production-all_lakers-01ksgav58akqfxcs8h9n.jpg\" alt=\"Lakers Heat\" class=\"wp-image-18181\"  \/>(Mandatory Credit: Isabella Frias-Imagn Images | IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fireworks began for Los Angeles Lakers megastar Luka Doncic on opening night against the Golden State Warriors, particularly when he started jawing with rookie Yaxel Lendeborg.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He hasn\u2019t stopped, either.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Entering Monday on a two-game winning streak, the Miami Heat were hoping to extinguish Doncic, but were unable to, as he tallied yet another 40-point double-double in the Lakers\u2019 138-117 win over the Heat inside Crypto.com Arena.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the opening team, Miami didn\u2019t have a single answer. Confusingly enough, there were only a handful of possessions \u2014 if that \u2014 with Bam Adebayo squared up against Doncic. Still, while Halloween was a few nights ago, the 27-year-old superstar carved the Heat\u2019s defense up like a pumpkin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Doncic tallied 42 points with seven rebounds and 13 assists, shooting 14-of-24 from the floor and 6-of-15 from 3-point range. Giannis Antetokounmpo couldn\u2019t quite match him, despite posting a 30-point, 12-rebound double-double of his own, adding seven assists, one steal and two blocks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Miami\u2019s defense, however, was a few steps too low all night. When the Heat blitzed Doncic, they were too slow to rotate, as the Lakers buried 19 threes; when they didn\u2019t, he punished practically every single individual matchup. Andrew Wiggins, Davion Mitchell and Pelle Larsson caught the brunt of it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps the biggest silver lining, if there was any, was that Klay Thompson picked up right where he left off, and Mitchell\u2019s hot start to the season continued. Still, the Heat\u2019s inability to get stops and ineffectiveness against their two-best players \u2014 Austin Reaves had 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting (4-5 3PT) \u2014 was the biggest issue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Miami\u2019s defense entering Monday has been quite poor. Describing it that way would have been a compliment on Monday.
