Polls for the 2026 midterm election will close in a few hours in Florida and while we will not know the results until later tonight, we do know that turnout will be massive.<\/p>\n

Data from the Florida Division of Elections shows nearly 5.5 million voters have either turned in vote-by-mail ballots or voted early going into Tuesday, out of 13.7 million voters.<\/p>\n

By 4 p.m., data show another 2 million voters have cast their ballots so far today.<\/p>\n

The election is a consequential one. Aside from the congressional elections, voters are also choosing a new governor for the state, the first in 8 years. They\u2019re also voting on:<\/p>\n

Attorney general<\/p>\n

Chief financial officer<\/p>\n

Commissioner of agriculture<\/p>\n

Every Florida House seat<\/p>\n

Several Florida Senate seats<\/p>\n

County commission races<\/p>\n

City and town elections<\/p>\n

Local runoff elections<\/p>\n

Constitutional amendments and local referendums, including Amendment 3, which would severely cut local property taxes if approved with 60% of the vote<\/p>\n

4:17 p.m.<\/p>\n

Voters, election officials scramble as flooding impacts Brevard polling places<\/p>\n

In Brevard County, residents had to adjust their voting plans because of the widespread flooding.<\/p>\n

Six polling places had to be relocated Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Some voters told News 6\u2019s Tylisa Hampton that they had to drive further away because of the changes, but it was too important not to vote.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell I wanted to do early voting, but I didn\u2019t get a chance,\u201d one voter said. \u201cVote your opinions and your beliefs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Donalds \u2018at peace\u2019 with campaign, while Jolly optimistic <\/p>\n

Republican gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds cast his ballot Tuesday with his wife Erika in Collier County.<\/p>\n

Donalds, who is holding his election night watch party at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood, told WINK-TV that\u00a0addressing affordability would be among his top priorities if elected governor.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, it\u2019s been a great journey. Really at peace with how we\u2019ve conducted ourselves, how we ran this campaign,\u201d Donalds told the TV station.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, his Democratic opponent, David Jolly, greeted voters outside a polling place in Pinellas County Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Jolly said he recognized that the odds in this election may be stacked against him.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s Florida,\u201d Jolly said. \u201cThe numbers are against the Democratic nominee, but I think what we\u2019re seeing is voters are about to defy history.\u201d<\/p>\n
