TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A holiday tradition in Tallahassee\u2019s Frenchtown neighborhood is coming to a halt this year. <\/p>\n
Annie Johnson, the founder of the non-profit Project Annie, said her annual Thanksgiving community meal is canceled this year. <\/p>\n
For nearly three decades, the event has fed more than 2,000 people on Thanksgiving Day. <\/p>\n
Johnson said the cancelation comes down to state paperwork. She has transformed the building into a nursery school but can\u2019t receive her license to open until the non-profit vacates the location.<\/p>\n
Because regulators prohibit two businesses from operating in the same space, Project Annie is moving out, leaving Johnson without a facility to prepare the annual feast. <\/p>\n

Johnson shared a message of gratitude for the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cI appreciate all that they have done for me these 28 years. They have really, really been good to me,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cSo, I don\u2019t want them to send in any money or anything to Project Annie until I get the paperwork straightened out.\u201d<\/p>\n
She asked people to not send any specifically Thanksgiving food or monetary donations to the old Project Annie building. <\/p>\n
Johnson hopes to have Thanksgiving for the community next year.<\/p>\n
