{"id":45172,"date":"2025-11-13T14:23:37","date_gmt":"2025-11-13T14:23:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/45172\/"},"modified":"2025-11-13T14:23:37","modified_gmt":"2025-11-13T14:23:37","slug":"work-continues-on-the-orange-belt-trail-in-pasco-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/45172\/","title":{"rendered":"Work continues on the Orange Belt Trail in Pasco County"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PASCO COUNTY, Fla. \u2014 Work is moving along on the Orange Belt Trail in Pasco County.<\/p>\n<p>What You Need To Know<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/orangebelttrail.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Orange Belt Trail<\/a> is a planned multi-use trail that will connect with other trails from Trinity to Trilby<br \/>\n<br \/>It\u2019s named for the old Orange Belt Railroad, which ran from St. Petersburg through Pasco County in the 1800s<br \/>\n<br \/>Officials say the design of the western portion along Trinity Boulevard is nearly done, with construction expected to begin next year<br \/>\n<br \/>Pasco County is currently studying how the trail will connect in east Pasco, from U.S. 41 to Dade City<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a planned multi-use trail that will connect with other trails from Trinity to Trilby.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s named for the old Orange Belt Railroad, which ran from St. Petersburg through Pasco County in the 1800s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Orange Belt Trail began as a concept within the county to see if there was a way we could utilize this amazing corridor that exists,\u201d said project manager Erin Swanson.<\/p>\n<p>Swanson says the design of the western portion along Trinity Boulevard is nearly done, with construction expected to begin next year.<\/p>\n<p>Pasco County is also currently studying how the trail will connect in east Pasco, from U.S. 41 to Dade City, where there are several options.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1112_bn9_Orange_Belt_study.jpeg\" alt=\"Map provided by Pasco County\" class=\"hashed-image image\" img-data-alignment=\"center\" img-data-width=\"percent-hundred\" loading=\"lazy\" img-data-caption=\"Map provided by Pasco County\" img-data-wrap-text=\"true\" img-data-editing=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Map provided by Pasco County<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen done, it\u2019s going to be amazing,\u201d Swanson said. \u201cIt\u2019s going to allow folks to travel through our really great county towns and cities, like San Antonio, St. Leo, Dade City and cycle all the way down to the Trinity area. It\u2019s going to be really nice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/orangebelttrail.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The Orange Belt Trail<\/a> will have connections to the Starkey Trail, Suncoast Trail, Withlacoochee Trail and also to Florida\u2019s Coast to Coast Trail, which could make Pasco County even more of a biking destination.<\/p>\n<p>Swanson says the study of the eastern connection of the trail should be done next year and the first portion along Trinity Blvd is expected to open in 2027.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"PASCO COUNTY, Fla. \u2014 Work is moving along on the Orange Belt Trail in Pasco County.
