{"id":45867,"date":"2025-11-14T00:14:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-14T00:14:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/45867\/"},"modified":"2025-11-14T00:14:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T00:14:08","slug":"als-family-farms-in-fort-pierce-celebrates-comeback-from-tornado-damage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/45867\/","title":{"rendered":"Al\u2019s Family Farms in Fort Pierce celebrates comeback from tornado damage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">Al\u2019s Family Farms in Fort Pierce is hosting a special reopening celebration on Saturday, 13 months <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wptv.com\/weather\/weather-news\/st-lucie-county-historic-business-als-family-farms-destroyed-from-tornado-outbreak\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">after a tornado<\/a> tore through the property ahead of Hurricane Milton.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">WATCH BELOW: &#8216;This is what it looks like when you shoot out the other end,&#8217; Jeff Schorner tells WPTV<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt was surreal what we went through,\u201d said owner Jeff Schorner. &#8220;God wants us to rebuild and that\u2019s how we\u2019ve been rolling for the last 13 months.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">For 48 years, this third-generation family business has been a staple in St. Lucie County \u2014 known for its fresh-squeezed orange juice, citrus shop, and hometown charm. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The tornado left behind splintered wood, twisted metal, and damaged buildings. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Schorner said giving up was never an option. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cAnything I could get with a forklift, I was grabbing and saving all the old timbers \u2014 because the timbers are 100 years old,&#8221; he said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Schorner told WPTV reporter Brooke Chau, hundreds of family and friends eagerly volunteered to help with the cleanup process. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Rather than replace what was lost, Schorner and his team salvaged what they could.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">From damage to determination, Al\u2019s Family Farms has become a symbol of resilience \u2014 restoring not just a business, but a piece of St. Lucie County.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">WATCH PREVIOUS COVERAGE: Historic Al&#8217;s Family Farms takes devastating hit<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThis is what it looks like when you shoot out the other end,\u201d Schorner said. \u201cTo all the people in the future that go through disasters \u2014 watch what we do.
