A local St Petersburg organization will be honoring World Remembrance Day for Traffic Victims this Sunday.<\/p>\n

Activate St Pete, an organization that focuses on activating change in traffic and road safety, is hosting an event to honor those lost to traffic accidents. It will be outside of St Pete City Hall this Sunday at noon. They will place flags to represent the 186 people who were injured or killed by vehicles in St. Petersburg last year, according to Signal Four Analytics<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a really important event to just make sure that we take a second to pause to remember that we\u2019re talking about people who lost their lives on their way to school, on their way to work, kids just going to go see their friends,\u201d said Franklin Alves, the co-founder of Activate St Pete. \u201cIt\u2019s just a moment to just take a pause cause we\u2019re talking about people, families, that have experienced enormous loss, and a lot of it is preventable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Activate St Pete encourages members of the community to honor the lives lost and get involved in the change they are hoping to make in St Pete.
