Since 2015, the Salty has built its reputation on brioche-style doughnuts, rotating seasonal flavors, and a menu that combines classics with twists, such as “Brown Butter and Salt,” “Maple Bacon,” and “Strawberry Shortcake.” Coffee is also a major part of the experience, and lines are common at peak hours and weekends.

On the other hand, Sanguich specializes in Cuban sandwiches and comfort food. The menu features staples like pan con bistec, “Croqueta Preparada,” “Medianoche,” and fruit batidos. Regulars point to the crunch of the bread, the melted cheese, and the house pickles. The Cuban sandwich is one of the most discussed in the city. Both places have become anchors in Miami’s food scene, and both have built strong followings.

The croissant medianoche hybrid by the Salty and Sanguich is to die for

Ok, so what’s this creation made of? Well, it replaces the traditional soft and sweet Cuban bread found at Sanguich shops with a buttery croissant, and is then filled with the core medianoche components (Swiss cheese, pork, ham, mustard, and pickles). However, this limited-edition version includes Sanguich ham and lechon, and the Salty’s special guava Dijon. The sandwich plays on the contrast between the flaky pastry and the savory, sweet, and tangy flavors that define a medianoche.

Miami has a rich history with Cuban sandwiches, Cuban bakeries, and menu mashups that remix classic dishes. For now, the “Medianoche Croissant Sandwich” is a daytime exclusive. Anyone who wants to try it will have to head to Wynwood before 3 p.m. and see how a croissant version stacks up against the original.

The Salty. 50 NW 24th St., Ste. 107, Wynwood; thesaltydonut.com.

This hybrid between a classic Cuban medianoche sandwich and a fresh croissant by Salty Donut is a must-try…

[15
1298,1016,1299,225,227,226,309
0":"post-46812","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-hialeah","8":"tag-bakery","9":"tag-cuba","10":"tag-dessert","11":"tag-hialeah","12":"tag-hialeah-headlines","13":"tag-hialeah-news","14":"tag-wynwood
["GET
