The \u201cwe want Lane!\u201d chants that broke out in the final minute of No. 7 Ole Miss\u2019 comeback win against Florida Saturday night were loud and clear on ESPN\u2019s broadcast. <\/p>\n

In another moment, cameras showed Florida fans donning orange and blue shirts that read, \u201cPlease Lane Come to Gainesville.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin, the rumored top candidate for Florida\u2019s head coaching vacancy, downplayed the situation following his team\u2019s thrilling 34-24 win.<\/p>\n

Asked after the win about his future in Oxford, Kiffin told reporters that it\u2019d be \u201cdisrespectful\u201d to the team to entertain the question moments after the Rebels captured their 10th win of the season.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love what we\u2019re doing here,\u201d Kiffin said, according to ESPN<\/a>. \u201cToday was awesome. To even talk about it right now would be so disrespectful to our players and how well they played today. We\u2019ve got a lot of things going here. Doing really well, and I love it here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kiffin also said the speculation hasn\u2019t been a distraction.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been dealing with what people would say are distractions for weeks now,\u201d said Kiffin, who\u2019s in his sixth season at Ole Miss. \u201cIt\u2019s different nowadays. I think kids think differently.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re getting pre-portaled every Saturday night they play well. I just talk to them and say, \u2018That\u2019s part of the process. When you guys play really well, these things happen, your coach gets talked about,\u2019 and it ain\u2019t the first time or first year that it\u2019s happened around here. I don\u2019t think it\u2019s a problem.\u201d<\/p>\n

Florida fired Billy Napier last month<\/a> after the Gators looked abysmal in a win against Mississippi State to open the season 3-4.<\/p>\n

In his three-plus seasons, the Gators were bowl eligible twice but never won more than eight games in a campaign.<\/p>\n

Wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales took over on an interim basis, and the Gators haven\u2019t won a game since falling to 3-7 on the season Saturday.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Kiffin has Ole Miss playing its best five-year stretch in program history, with the Rebels winning at least 10 games in four of those five seasons. <\/p>\n

Ole Miss is in position this season to earn a College Football Playoff berth, too.<\/p>\n

With plenty of other enticing jobs available, including LSU, Florida, the Giants and the Titans, Kiffin hasn\u2019t outwardly stated whether he\u2019ll be back at Ole Miss next season.<\/p>\n
