JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2013 The City of Jacksonville agreed to receive $730,000 from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for the Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office\u2019s Real Time Crime Center in Tuesday\u2019s city council meeting.<\/p>\n
RELATED: Real-Time Crime Center: A look inside JSO\u2019s network of 7,700+ cameras and how they are used<\/a><\/p>\n Recommended Videos<\/p>\n The agreement states that about $472,000 will be used to purchase surveillance cameras for the crime center and $258,000 will be used for the installation across the city.<\/p>\n The real-time crime center has helped investigators identify the driver and make an arrest in a deadly hit-and-run crash that killed a star student-athlete<\/a>.<\/p>\n In the summer of 2023, when a man murdered three people in a racially motivated attack at a Dollar General<\/a>, it was the center\u2019s cameras that recorded critical information that helped officers piece together a timeline of events.<\/p>\n In April 2024, a stray bullet hit a school bus in the Hogan\u2019s Creek area<\/a>.
