Which came first, the chicken conversation or the frustrated farmer? <\/p>\n

A Florida man allegedly opened fire at a trio of twentysomethings outside of a bar earlier this month during an argument over how many eggs a chicken can lay.<\/p>\n

Peter Riera, 44, called 911 on Nov. 4 and said he had been robbed and was being chased by two men and a woman at Harper\u2019s Pub in Port Saint Lucie, according to Port Saint Lucie cops<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The trio \u2014 identifed in the police docs as Brandon Pace, 23; his girlfriend, Kayla Damiana, 26; and Tyler McHargue, 23 \u2014 told responding officers that they had been talking to Riera, whom they had been introduced to that night as \u201cFarmer Pete.\u201d <\/p>\n

The group somehow wound up discussing chickens and egg production, a conversation that quickly escalated when Riera inexplicably grew paranoid they were going to \u201cjump\u201d him, according to witness statements taken by the cops.<\/p>\n

The witnesses only referred to Riera as \u201cFarmer Pete.\u201d Port St. Lucie Police<\/p>\n

Riera allegedly accused the three of trying to \u201ccon\u201d him and pulled out a gun. He allegedly fired four rounds at the group while they were fleeing, but no one was injured, police said.<\/p>\n

Body camera footage obtained by CBS 12<\/a> showed Riera, dressed in a pair of jean overalls and seemingly missing his shoes, being arrested outside the pub.<\/p>\n

The victims, though, didn\u2019t go quietly either. <\/p>\n

Pace was arrested for allegedly obstructing officers and kicking two of them while he was being detained. Damiani was also arrested for resisting an officer without violence after she ran toward officers while they were detaining Pace, despite being ordered to stay back, CBS 12 reported.<\/p>\n

She was released on a $500 bond. Pace is not presently in custody at the St. Lucie County Jail, where they were originally booked after the arrest, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

He still faces one count of resisting an officer with violence and two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer, according to police.<\/p>\n

McHargue was not charged as he cooperated with the police. <\/p>\n

Riera is currently being held on a $435,000 bond and faces multiple charges for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on top of other lesser offenses, including discharging a firearm in public, according to the sheriff\u2019s office.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Which came first, the chicken conversation or the frustrated farmer?
