OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. \u2013 The Orlando Pride and Orlando City Soccer are engaged in negotiations with Osceola County that could lead to the professional women\u2019s team relocating its training facilities to Osceola County, officials said. <\/p>\n
County commissioners are scheduled to vote on a measure that would set the framework for additional development at Osceola County Heritage Park.<\/p>\n
Osceola County already maintains a partnership with Orlando City Soccer and operates practice fields at Heritage Park. County officials described the vote as a procedural step that, if approved, would establish the framework for an expanded agreement outlining timelines and components of the project \u2014 including the eventual relocation of the Pride and possible construction of an on-site hotel.<\/p>\n
Residents in nearby Kissimmee expressed enthusiasm about the possibility. <\/p>\n
\u201cOh, I love the game. You know, I\u2019ve never been to one. That would be amazing. And it\u2019ll be convenient because I live here in Kissimmee,\u201d one resident said. <\/p>\n
Another added, \u201cSoccer is in our blood. It would be a big hit here in Osceola County. There are a lot of Hispanics and Americans who love soccer, so it would be huge.\u201d<\/p>\n
Orlando City Soccer provided a statement to News 6 confirming the club is pursuing an expanded partnership with Osceola County to further develop its training facility at Heritage Park but declined to comment further because the matter is pending before the county commission.<\/p>\n
If commissioners approve the framework, county and club representatives would move forward with negotiating final terms and timelines for the relocation and associated development. Officials did not provide a firm timetable pending the outcome of tonight\u2019s vote.<\/p>\n
Separately, Seminole County last year extended the lease for Pride training facilities there through Dec. 31, 2028, an arrangement the club has maintained as talks with Osceola County continue.<\/p>\n
