This special evening honors exceptional community leaders and authors with deep connections to Miami and the Fair. Proceeds will benefit the Fair\u2019s NEXT DECADE FUND and Children\u2019s Alley, a hub for entertainment and learning for children and families.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s Next Page event will honor Maika Moulite &amp; Maritza Moulite, Carl Hiaasen, The Shepard Broad Foundation (principals Deborah Bussel and John Bussel), and Dr. Edda L. Fields-Black and Dr. Dorothy Jenkins Fields, six honorees whose work has shaped South Florida\u2019s cultural and literary landscape.<\/p>\n<p>The Moulite sisters grew up attending Miami Book Fair programs like Children\u2019s Alley and Generation Genius, experiences that helped inspire their path as acclaimed young adult authors. Hiaasen, a celebrated journalist and novelist, has long captured the humor, contradictions, and untamed character of Florida life, introducing readers around the world to the state\u2019s wild spirit. The Shepard Broad Foundation is recognized for its enduring commitment to education, community enrichment and access to the arts across Miami-Dade County. Dr. Fields-Black and her mother, Dr. Jenkins Fields are being honored for their pioneering work in preserving and sharing Miami\u2019s Black history and cultural heritage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis event really captures what Miami Book Fair is all about \u2013 community, storytelling and the people who make this city so unique,\u201d said Lissette Mendez, executive director for Miami Book Fair. \u201cHonoring writers and leaders who\u2019ve grown with us, alongside authors who\u2019ve shaped the way we see Florida and the world, feels especially meaningful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Next Page brings together Miami\u2019s literary community for an intimate evening where every table hosts an acclaimed author. Guests will dine and converse directly with some of today\u2019s most exciting voices in literature while receiving signed copies of their books.
