I know it’s not the easiest thing to wake up to, but hang in there. We’re starting off with some dense patches, especially in spots like Macclenny where visibility is near zero this morning. If you’re commuting from those areas, take it slow.

Most of Jacksonville finds conditions a little easier, although visibility can still change quickly—especially before 9 a.m. Some places like St. Augustine and Mayport are waking up to 60 degrees, while others, like Macclenny, are in the 40s and dealing with thicker fog. We’ll keep an eye on how that changes with Exact Track 4D, but plan for a cautious morning drive.

Warm, dry days continue amid drought

Once we get past the morning fog, you’ll notice it’s a beautiful day outside—with a catch. Temperatures are running above average, and we’re stuck in a dry weather pattern. According to the National Weather Service, there’s only about a 10 percent chance of rain over the next few days. That’s Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday included.

We’re officially in a drought, so it’s important to watch how much water we’re using—maybe take it easy on the sprinklers. I love a good fire pit this time of year too, but it just isn’t safe right now with how dry things are. Let’s hold off on those for now and keep our neighborhoods safe.

Perfect weather for outdoor plans

If you’re hoping to enjoy the sunshine, you picked a great week for it. We’re seeing highs in the low to mid 80s across the region—from Fernandina Beach to Palatka—and morning lows mainly in the 50s. That’s well above average for this time of year.

Kids heading off to school will be stepping out into the upper 50s, and by the afternoon, temperatures will climb into the 80s. There’s hardly any breeze, so it’ll feel especially nice for grilling, doing homework outside, or even sneaking in an early afternoon round of golf. Just remember to water your garden, but do it wisely as we ride out these dry conditions.

If you capture a great sunrise or a foggy morning around Jacksonville, share your photo with us at SnapJAX—you might just see your shot on The Weather Authority!

Copyright 2025 by WJXT News4JAX – All rights reserved.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Let’s talk about this fog, Jacksonville.
