The Straz Center for the Performing Arts is at 1010 N. W.C. MacInnes Place, Tampa. For information and to purchase tickets, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/strazcenter.org\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">strazcenter.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A new musical about growing up and growing old, \u201cKimberly Akimbo\u201d is the winner of five Tony Awards including Best Musical.\u202fIt features Tony Award-winning book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire, a Tony Award-winning score by Jeanine Tesori, choreography by Danny Mefford and direction by the Tony-nominated Jessica Stone.<\/p>\n<p>Kimberly is about to turn 16 and recently moved with her family to a new town in suburban New Jersey. Kim is forced to navigate family dysfunction, a rare genetic condition, her first crush \u2026 and possible felony charges. Ever the optimist, she is determined to find happiness against all odds and embark on a great adventure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis season\u2019s Broadway at Straz Center shines with Tony Award winners for Best Musical \u2018Kimberly Akimbo\u2019 and \u2018The Outsiders,\u2019 said Greg Holland, CEO and president of the Straz. \u201cTony Award-winning Best Play \u2018Stereophonic\u2019 takes audiences into a recording studio while rock musicians lay down tracks for a new album.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 2025-2026 season continues with the following shows:<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The Outsiders\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Dec. 27, 2025\u2013Jan. 4, 2026<\/p>\n<p>The winner of four 2024 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, \u201cThe Outsiders\u201d is adapted from S.E. Hinton\u2019s seminal novel and\u202fFrancis Ford Coppola\u2019s iconic film. This thrilling new musical features a book by\u202fAdam Rapp\u202fwith\u202fJustin Levine, music and lyrics by\u202fJamestown Revival\u202f(Jonathan Clay and Zach Chance) and\u202fTony Award winner Justin Levine, music supervision, orchestration and arrangements by Justin Levine, choreography by\u202fRick Kuperman\u202fand Jeff\u202fKuperman and direction by Tony Award winner\u202fDanya Taymor.\u202f<\/p>\n<p>In Tulsa, Oklahoma, 1967, Ponyboy Curtis, his best friend Johnny Cade and their greaser family of \u201coutsiders\u201d battle with their affluent rivals, the socs. \u201cThe Outsiders\u201d\u202fnavigates the complexities of self-discovery as the greasers dream about who they want to become in a world that may never accept them.
