HIALEAH, Fla. \u2014 Nearly four months after police said two young barbers were found shot to death inside a Hialeah apartment<\/a>, grieving parents stood before cameras Thursday to make a renewed plea for answers, saying their lives have been shattered in the absence of justice.<\/p>\n

The victims, Kevin Ramirez, 18, and Cristian Rolando Contreras, 20, were discovered on July 29 inside Ramirez\u2019s apartment at the Atlantico at Aquabella complex at 11181 W. 35th Way, according to investigators. <\/p>\n

Both men worked at Billionaire Barbershop in Hialeah and were described as talented, driven and passionate about their craft.<\/p>\n

At a press conference at the Hialeah Police Training Building, detectives, Crime Stoppers representatives and the victims\u2019 families gathered to ask the public for help.<\/p>\n

Cristian\u2019s mother, Norma Flores, said losing her only son has left her life without purpose.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe day we lost Christian \u2014 they robbed my life because my life doesn\u2019t have a center,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n

Kevin\u2019s mother, Vicky Jurado, said she is living with an unbearable silence.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll the time Kevin and me together \u2014 it is my life. In this moment I die in life,\u201d she said. \u201cHe was my only son. I am pleading for justice. He was my only son so my life has left me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kevin\u2019s father, Orlando Ramirez, said the family suffers daily with unanswered questions.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe die everyday because we have a lot of questions but no answers,\u201d he said. \u201cRight now I can\u2019t sleep, I can\u2019t eating, I can\u2019t live everyday because when I go to bed, I am thinking of Kevin, wake up thinking of Kevin. So right now, my son is part of my life and we need justice. Kevin and Cris need justice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hialeah Police Department Lt. Eddie Rodriguez said both young men were rising talents in the barbering community.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecoming very successful at what they were doing \u2014 this was a passion for them, not just a job, a passion, a lifestyle for them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He added that investigators urgently need more information.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to find out who is responsible \u2014 if it is one person, multiple people. We are at a crossroads now where we need more information,\u201d he said. \u201cFor too long, the person or persons responsible for this have been walking free. You hold the piece of the puzzle that they need so they can move on.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the night of the killings, police said Cristian was visiting Kevin at his apartment when both were fatally shot. Since then, leads have slowed, and investigators say the case is in danger of going cold.<\/p>\n

Kevin\u2019s father expressed frustration that no one has stepped forward.<\/p>\n

\u201cNobody say nothing about the case,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The families hope the community\u2019s compassion \u2014 and conscience \u2014 will bring someone forward with the break detectives need.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were doing what they loved, they were doing it together, and it ended with them together,\u201d Lt. Rodriguez said. \u201cSo it is a very sad story.\u201d<\/p>\n

With no new developments announced Thursday, Crime Stoppers increased its reward to $15,000, hoping the enhanced incentive will help solve the double murder.<\/p>\n
