As the Lane Kiffin saga continues, more rumors have begun to materialize.<\/p>\n
Kiffin\u2019s representatives met with Florida\u2019s athletic department Thursday, as reported by Swamp247. Gators athletic director Scott Stricklin was present at the meeting, per the report.<\/p>\n
The meeting comes amid Florida\u2019s search for a new coach after the firing of Billy Napier. Kiffin, the Ole Miss coach who has been linked to the Florida gig since the search began, was the betting favorite for the job before betting sites removed odds on him.<\/p>\n
Interim coach Billy Gonzales has been at the helm since Napier\u2019s ouster. Gonzales has lost all three games he\u2019s coached, including last week\u2019s 34-24 loss to Kiffin\u2019s Rebels<\/a> in Oxford.<\/p>\n LSU is also in the running for Kiffin. Kiffin has yet to shut down rumors of him leaving Ole Miss for another job when asked about it in his news conferences this week. He\u2019s instead attributed the rumors to Ole Miss\u2019 success.<\/p>\n It doesn\u2019t seem like Ole Miss is tolerating Kiffin\u2019s antics anymore, however.\u00a0<\/p>\n Ole Miss gave Kiffin an ultimatum<\/a> Monday as reported by The Athletic. Kiffin, who dismissed the ultimatum<\/a> as \u201cabsolutely not true\u201d on \u201cThe Pat McAfee Show,\u201d has until the Egg Bowl next Friday at Mississippi State to make a decision about his future.\u00a0<\/p>\n Kiffin also met with Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter on Friday after the Rebels\u2019 morning practice. Carter announced that Kiffin\u2019s future will be revealed Nov. 29, the day after the No. 5 Rebels play rival Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl.<\/p>\n \u201cCoach Kiffin and I have had many pointed and positive conversations regarding his future at Ole Miss, including meeting (Friday) with Chancellor (Glenn) Boyce,\u201d Carter said in the statement. \u201cWhile we discuss next steps, we know we cannot lose sight of what is most important \u2014 our \u2026 team is poised to finish the regular season in historic fashion.\u201d<\/p>\n As Florida eyes Kiffin as its future coach, it also must focus on the present.
