TALLAHASSEE \u2013 Florida State’s Lajae Jones<\/a> scored a career-high 36 points \u2013 and tied the single-game school-record for 3-point shots made with 10 \u2013 to lead the Seminoles to a 98-72 victory over Georgia Southern at the Donald L. Tucker Center. Jones tied the all-time school record for 3-point shots made in a game first set by George McCloud at La Salle on Feb. 23, 1989.\u00a0Jones’ 36 points is the most by a Florida State player since Al Thornton scored 45 against Miami on March 3, 2007. Jones\u00a0became the first Seminole to score at least 30 points since Jamir Watkins<\/a> against Rice on November 9, 2024.<\/p>\n

The Seminoles improved their record to 4-1 and remained undefeated in the Tucker Center. Georgia Southern is now 3-3.<\/p>\n

As a team, Florida State made 17 3-point shots, which is tied for the fourth most made in a single game in school history. The Seminoles also attempted a school and ACC record 49 3-point field goals. The 49 3-point attempts broke the previous record of 47 set by the Seminoles against Alabama State earlier this season on November 7, 2025.<\/p>\n

Jones broke his previous career high of 24 points, which he scored against Duquesne on February 22, 2025. His 10 3-point shots made broke his previous record of six made 3-point field goals against Dayton on January 28, 2025.<\/p>\n

Florida State opened the game on a 9-0 run and never trailed. Senior Alex Steen<\/a> began the scoring for the Seminoles for the second consecutive game with a dunk.\u00a0 Steen finished his night with nine points and six rebounds.<\/p>\n

Georgia Southern cut the lead to two at 14-12 with 13 minutes left in the first half.<\/p>\n

The Seminoles responded with a 3-point shot by Thomas Bassong<\/a> to extend Florida State’s lead to five at 17-12.<\/p>\n

Bassong has now made a three-point shot in three of his first five college games.<\/p>\n

The Seminoles outscored Georgia Southern 23-12 from that point, closing the half on an 8-0 run. Jones scored the final five Florida State points of the half to give Florida State an 11-point lead, 40-29, at the half.<\/p>\n

Jones scored the first nine Florida State points of the second half to bring his consecutive points scored scoring streak to 13. His second-half opening streak came on three consecutive 3-point shots made.<\/p>\n

Florida State increased its lead over the Eagles to 53-39 with 15:43 left to play in the game. Over the next three minutes, the Seminoles would extend their lead thanks to a 14-0 run capped by a Chauncey Wiggins<\/a> slam which increased the Seminoles’ lead to 67-39.<\/p>\n

Wiggins finished the game with 11 points, a game-high 10 rebounds, and three assists. Wiggins’ 11 points and 10 rebounds were\u00a0the first double-double of his college basketball career.<\/p>\n

Florida State’s largest lead of the game was 38, \u00a0at 96-58 with 3:00 left to play.<\/p>\n

Kobe MaGee<\/a> added 12 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Freshman guard Cam Miles<\/a> scored 11 points with a career-high five assists and two rebounds. Miles’ 11 is the second consecutive game he has scored in \u00a0double-figures.<\/p>\n
