TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Hundreds came together at Cascades Park on Saturday for the annual Walk to End Alzheimer\u2019s. <\/p>\n
Peggy Harter attends the walk each year and said Alzheimer\u2019s has affected her family for generations.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy whole life really has rotated around helping people with dementia and Alzheimer\u2019s,\u201d Harter said. \u201cMy grandmother had Alzheimer\u2019s and so did my mother and her only sister. So, I have been very active in Alzheimer\u2019s and dementia since I was young.\u201d<\/p>\n
Harter said she currently resides in a senior living facility, and she also sees her friends go through the struggles of Alzheimer\u2019s. \u201cMany of the friends I\u2019ve met over the six years I\u2019ve lived there, I\u2019ve lost several of them to dementia,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

More than 300 people participated in this year\u2019s walk, and Harter said the community support is incredible. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s wonderful to see people of different ages and different abilities come out and support the Alzheimer\u2019s Association,\u201d Harter said. <\/p>\n
WCTV\u2019s Abby Walton was the emcee for this year\u2019s event. In total, about $66,000 was raised to support the Alzheimer\u2019s Association. <\/p>\n
